Every child deserves the chance to thrive—mentally, emotionally, and socially.
SERA Smart Villages, in collaboration with the Mental Health Initiatives Rotary Action Group (District 6960), is leading a groundbreaking mental health initiative aimed at integrating early detection tools into Georgia’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), where thousands of children from underserved communities receive their primary care.
Youth mental health challenges are skyrocketing. Georgia ranks among the top states for youth suicide, yet many families lack access to timely care. Pediatricians, often the only regular point of contact, are not equipped with tools for early screening.
The barriers:
Mental health screenings aren’t standard during check-ups
Families often miss early signs or fear the stigma
Shortage of mental health professionals in rural areas
We’re building a tech-enabled mental health screening app that integrates directly into routine pediatric wellness visits. Our system:
✅ Screens children confidentially during appointments
✅ Instantly provides pediatricians with actionable reports
✅ Offers coping tools and self-regulation techniques for mild cases
✅ Flags serious symptoms and recommends next steps or referrals
✅ Includes a digital dashboard to track follow-up and progress
“Early detection can save lives. Our goal is to move mental health upstream—starting at the check-up.”
In Phase 1, we aim to:
Launch in 4 FQHC clinics across Georgia
Reach 10,000+ children and families
Train 40+ pediatricians and clinic staff
Build community and school-based awareness
This model is designed to scale statewide & nationally.
Every day, a child in Georgia suffers in silence—struggling with anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts—with no one noticing until it's too late.
But we can change that.
This initiative is more than a health app. It’s a lifeline.
By embedding mental health screenings into routine pediatric care, we can catch the signs early, offer real support, and give families the tools they need to protect their children.
This is not just a tech project.
It’s a movement to save young lives, restore hope to families, and reimagine how care is delivered to our most vulnerable.
